Terms of service

1. The service

PerfectCV takes a CV you upload, rewrites the bullets, generates an executive summary, and renders the result as an ATS-friendly Word document delivered by email. It is a one-off transactional service. There is no account, no subscription, and no automatic recurring charge.

Optional add-on: cover letter for an additional £2, ordered alongside the reformat at checkout. The cover letter uses your reformatted CV plus an optional job description you paste, and is delivered as a separate Word document.

2. Eligibility and acceptable use

You must be at least sixteen years old to use the service. By uploading a CV, you confirm it is your own CV or that you have explicit permission from the person it relates to.

Do not upload CVs containing knowingly false information; do not upload anything other than a CV; do not abuse the service to target an automated screener with adversarial content. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders that breach these conditions.

3. Pricing, payment, and VAT

The CV reformat is £2 GBP, one-off. The optional cover letter is £2 GBP, one-off. Prices include UK VAT where applicable; Stripe Tax determines the correct VAT treatment for your billing location at checkout.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details. By proceeding to checkout you agree to Stripe’s terms in addition to ours.

4. What you get

On successful payment, our pipeline runs and emails you a download link to a Word (.docx) document containing your reformatted CV. If you ordered the cover letter add-on, a second Word document is delivered alongside it. The download links are valid for seven days from the date of payment.

The reformat is generated from your source CV using a specific prompt set; we do not invent employers, dates, qualifications, certifications, languages, or metrics that are not present in your source. We do not score or rank you. The result is a competent professional reformatting, not an endorsement of your suitability for any specific role.

5. Refunds

If our pipeline fails for any technical reason — invalid AI output after retry, hallucination guardrail trip, render error — your payment is refunded automatically. You will receive an email confirming the refund.

If you are unhappy with the reformatted output for non-technical reasons (style preference, wording you would have phrased differently), contact us at the email below within seven days. Refunds outside the auto-refund cases are reviewed case-by-case at our discretion.

Refunds are processed back to your original payment method via Stripe; allow up to ten business days for the credit to appear depending on your bank.

6. Data retention

Your source CV and the generated Word document are stored in a private bucket and automatically deleted seven days after the date of payment. Unpaid abandoned uploads are deleted twenty-four hours after creation.

We retain a small amount of non-PII metadata about your order (order ID, status, timestamps, refund records) for accounting and operational purposes for up to seven years where required by UK tax law.

7. Liability

PerfectCV makes no warranty that the reformatted output will help you secure an interview or a job. Job application outcomes depend on factors entirely outside our control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when they were last revised. Changes apply only to orders placed after the revision date.
